"I would like to hold Uber accountable because no big corporation [that] brings in $120 million a day should prevent me from being able to hire an attorney if I get into an auto accident. I don’t think people understand the real consequences of Uber’s initiative if it gets on the ballot and passes.”

When I came home from the Iraq war, I felt broken and discarded. I had to fight for every bit of care I needed. I know what it looks like when the system is set up to make it harder for people to get help. That is exactly what this measure does. It caps what accident victims can recover, makes it harder to find a lawyer who will take your case, and locks it all into the constitution so it can't be fixed later. Uber's own earnings calls say this saves them money. That is who this is for.

Corporate greed and corruption will be the downfall of the United States if we don’t stand up to these big corporations that are trying to deceive and manipulate us.

"As a consumer and attorney, it is scary to see an organization misuse its power and money to do everything possible to escape accountability. Rather than addressing the concerns and issues at hand, including consumer safety, they're attempting to disillusion consumers and cripple their ability to seek justice altogether."

I authored California's Sexual Assault Victim's Bill of Rights because I believe survivors deserve justice — not corporate barriers to accountability. Uber's ballot measure would do the opposite: it would cap what injured Californians can recover and make it nearly impossible for them to find an attorney willing to take their case. This initiative isn't about protecting consumers — it's about protecting Uber's bottom line.

Uber should be held accountable because they are required to keep everyone safe. Accountability is necessary for a variety of reasons, such as: negligent driver vetting, lack of safety monitoring, sexual assault, amongst other areas.

Everyone should be responsible for their negligent actions. If you cause harm you should compensate those that were injured.
